It can be hard to know what living your truth means in a world constantly telling us to be someone other than who we are. But at its core, living your truth is about being authentic and aligning with your values.

It’s about being genuine, honest, and transparent in your life. When you live your reality, you create a life that is rich, fulfilling, and aligned with your deepest desires.

Our minds have been wrecked and wormed out by what the world expects us to be, by how the world wants us to see. The world has deteriorated us by controlling our beliefs, fears, and societal demands.

In the journey of following what others expect, we lose a part of our true selves. Living your truth is sophisticated and philosophical. But the elemental meaning of living your truth can be straightforward and undemanding.

What Does Living Your Truth Mean?

It will not be justice to unveil a single meaning of living your truth. The reason can be conferred to the individual essence of the meaning. It can be as simple as making a simple decision like what you wish to wear. The small choices we make appear to be insignificant. But all the small decisions we make add up to how we lead our lives.

If a friend asks you for a favor and you are already stuck with your deadlines. Will you neglect all your personal needs or explain your hectic schedule politely? You might now be wondering, is it this much easier?

We say, yes, it is!

The world has implanted our truths, and our authenticity has been taken away. What we want to be is often shaped by what we are expected to be. Living your truth opens the doors to spiritual awakening.

We often hear people claiming they know who they are. The easier it sounds, the harder it is to explore someone’s true self.

We adhere to the illusion of being ourselves. No matter how confident we are in saying, “We Know Ourselves,” we do not.

Breaking in the door of self-awareness is still a rare quality.

An article published by Harvard supports this. According to it, only 10%–15% of the subjects knew who they were. The world reflects the echoes of what we are expected to be. Amidst what the world expects us to be, we are accustomed to building our lives based on societal demands.

Living your truth is related to understanding and accepting your authentic self. We wrongly assume that we can find our true self alone. This though permits the introspection of a person in a single state, and to perceive our true self it is necessary to consider some aspects of your personality.

Let us say one person is cheerful and jovial in certain circumstances, while another becomes anxious in some situations. All cumulative feelings, thoughts, and beliefs make a person’s authentic self.

Benefits of Living Your Truth

“The truth shall set you free.”

We have all heard this phrase at one point or another in our lives. But what does it mean?

In essence, it means that living your truth – being authentic and honest with yourself – is one of the most liberating things you can do.

It can be scary to step out of your comfort zone and be your true self, but it is worth it. Living your truth makes you feel more authentic, connected, and alive.

Here are some of the benefits of living your truth:

1. You Will Feel More Authentic

When you are living your truth, you are being your true self. This means that you are not trying to be someone you are not. You are not pretending to be someone you are not. You are yourself.

And when you are being yourself, you will feel more authentic. You will feel more genuine, real, and connected to yourself and your experiences.

2. You Will Feel More Connected

When you are living your truth, you are also being more honest with yourself. This means you are not hiding your true feelings, thoughts, and experiences. You are not trying to fit into someone else’s idea of who you should be.

Instead, you are sharing your true self with the world. And when you do this, you will feel more connected to yourself and others. You will feel more connected to your own experiences and the experiences of others.

3. You Will Feel More Alive

When you do this, you will feel more alive. You will feel more connected to your own life and to the lives of others.

4. You Will Feel More Free

When you are living your truth, you are also living more freely. This means that you are not living in a constricted or limited way. You are not living in a way that is controlled by others.

Instead, you are living in a way that is free and open. And when you do this, you will feel more free. You will feel more connected to your own life and the lives of others.

5. You Will Feel More Joy

Living your truth is one of the most liberating things you can do. It can be scary to step out of your comfort zone and be your true self, but it is worth it. Living your truth makes you feel more authentic, connected, and alive.

What Makes Living Your Truth Hard?

Embracing the true versions of yourself can be intricate. To exist in the comfort of patterns set by the external world is safe and comfortable

Stepping out of the defined and collective beliefs becomes an integrative part of ours without our acknowledgment. A preferred age of marriage for individuals can be used as an example to understand societal beliefs.

Societal and collective beliefs have proved to be essential for the community’s survival. Even if recent times do not require them for survival, why are they still dominating our lives?

The reason can be attributed to the inculcation of these beliefs in our minds from the tender age of childhood. They have built deep roots; hence, we fail to replace them with novel beliefs.

If you make up your mind to live your life in your way, there can be different obstacles that can make it difficult for you. The first obstacle can be the denial of truth. The truth can be associated with an individual or people nearby.

Continuous denial soon becomes a vicious cycle and distances us from our feelings. Another obstacle can be the fear that exists because you are trying to step out of the crowd. This fear can also be built by the factor that you might disappoint others.

Lack of acceptance too can make a living your truth resistant. Escaping from our truths only accelerates disconnection from ourselves.

It would be wrong to say there is a correct path to finding meaning in your life. Building the right path for determining your truth, values, and beliefs can only be curated by yourself.

The molding of a person’s psyche happens primarily in his childhood.

Later on, it is carved by the grooves of our lives. Understanding the process of becoming yourself till today can expedite finding your truth.

Limiting your beliefs to your past is one mistake that should be avoided at any cost. To find yourself, it becomes crucial to not let past beliefs take command.

Hence, you must shush the critic in you. No matter how much we adorn finding our authentic selves, it is not always a happy moment.

There might be moments and things that can bring you down and lower your morale. There might be times that you feel unveiling your true self is not possible.

When such thoughts pull you down, you should hold onto your strengths. The journey of finding yourself helps you in exploring your strengths. Strength can be something other than something fancy. Instead, it should be something that fills you with contentment.

Conclusion

If you have been intrigued by someone confident and decisive, now can be your chance to become one. Living your truth remains a dream for many. Making it, your reality starts with small decisions you take daily.

Living your truth can be utterly satisfying because it means you are living a life based on pillars built by you. By living your truth, you can provide a space for your emotions, relationships, and responsibilities in your accordance.
